Many working professionals struggle to find time to bond with their kids. For what it's worth, here are some of the things that I've put on list of possible things to do for the summer. It is sort of a "daddy-school curricula". Some of the items (like card games) are also cross-generational, which can also have unique benefits. Here's my tentative list:
- Music (Singing) - helps to build self-esteem and ability to communicate more confidently
- Blackjack - card game that improves math and basic strategy skills
- Poker - card game that improves knowledge of probability and reading people
- Hearts - card game that improves strategy skills
- Presidents - helps dad learn something he never learned too well
- Math - find the areas to improve upon based on school feedback/report cards
- Joke Telling - make kids better than their parents and improve memory skills
- Chinese
- Art - Origami
- Swimming
- Bike Riding
- Bible
- Mythology
- History
- Acting & Movies
- Dance Steps
- School Workbook Lessons
- Sports

I will be test driving this posterous site to potentially supplement or displace my management consulting blog of 5+ years at http://steveshu.typepad.com. The main consideration for supplementing my blog is that there is a gap on being able to type rich (instant) messages into tools like Twitter. The main consideration for displacing my management consulting blog at TypePad is that TypePad has become much of a walled-garden. Features like email updates to commenters, export, integration with social network hubs is lagging (yet integration needs to be simple).
Additionally, the current meme on lifestreaming (although I am not sure it applies to me) is an important one to understand in terms of media, and I think posterous can play an important role in this emerging trend.
Feedback and suggestions welcome.
