The Making of the Prius "Harmony" TV Commercial

Saatchi & Saatchi Los Angeles worked with Toyota to create the #1 most-liked ad in May 2009 according to Nielsen AG Research (see http://adage.com/article?article_id=137386). This video goes into how this ad was made. Other critical context for marketing students is that the Prius dominates in terms of U.S. market share, hybrid and electric vehicle penetration is still low overall relative to all passenger autos (when including gasoline), and this video is for the 3rd generation Prius. Students can pay attention to how factors like product lifecycle, primary versus secondary demand is addressed, social responsibility, and what brand associations are created.
